"Going after things that seemed impossible but beautiful."
Written during the season Kris packed up and moved to Nashville to pursue her dream of becoming a professional songwriter. Not a hobby, not a side thing — a full career. At that time she genuinely believed no dream was too big and anything was possible. The song is a snapshot of that fearless, vision-driven energy — before life taught a few harder lessons. Not naive, just hopeful. The kind of hope that drives you to move across the country for a dream.
Opens with the beautiful tension of wanting contradictory things all at once — settled but not settling, grounded but free, grown up but never old. That tension isn't anxiety, it's aliveness. The chorus lands the image: wishing on stars, watching pennies disappear, shooting for the moon — and still wanting more. The bridge distills it: easy roads aren't worth the cost, and those who wander aren't always lost.
Wanting everything without contradiction being a flaw
Shooting for the moon and landing on it — and still wanting more
Wishing well pennies disappearing in the dark
Easy roads aren't worth the cost
Those that wander ain't always lost
The heart that's always wanting
Overall Vibe
Country modern Landslide. Warm, organic, cinematic but intimate. Like Fleetwood Mac came through Nashville and stayed a while.
Tempo
Slow it down a click or two from the demo. Let it breathe. The emotion needs more space than the current tempo allows.
Demo Status
Demo direction is solid. Tempo adjustment is the primary change. Let the organic instrumentation do the heavy lifting.
Acoustic Guitar
12-String Guitar
Mandolin
Dobro
Slide Guitar
Lap Steel
Lean into the organic textures. The layering of these instruments is what creates the Landslide warmth without copying it. Each one adds a different grain and shimmer.
Fleetwood Mac — Landslide
The feel, the space, the intimacy, the way the song seems to float. Country-modern lens on that Fleetwood Mac emotional weight.
Concept TBD
Confirm tempo reduction in session — a click or two slower than the demo
Try tuning a half step down in session — KB wants to hear how it sounds
Music video or visualizer direction TBD

I wanna settle down but I don't wanna settle
Wanna grow up but don't ever wanna get old
Wanna stay grounded in a big city town
I wanna dance under the moon without the sun going down
Mmm mmm

I wanna stand tall but never lose my humble
Wanna drop my walls but I sure don't wanna crumble

No regrets, no rewind, no second chances in this life
I've wished upon a shooting star
Watched my wishing well pennies
Disappear in the dark
I've shot for the moon and landed on it
And now I find my heart is wantin'
To go out chasing comets
I wanna find true love
Never quite known how to fake it
There's so much more than fairytales and picket fences
I wanna fall hard into arms I can trust
Feel my heart spontaneously combust

No regrets, no rewind, no second chances in this life
I've wished upon a shooting star
Watched my wishing well pennies
Disappear in the dark
I've shot for the moon and landed on it
And now I find my heart is wantin'
To go out chasing comets
Easy roads ain't worth the cost
And those that wander ain't always lost
I've wished upon a shooting star
Watched my wishing well pennies
Disappear in the dark
I've shot for the moon and landed on it
And now I find my heart is wantin'
To go out chasing comets
