Core Concept
"The wellness industrial complex told me if I just did enough things, I'd finally be fixed. Spoiler: I'm still waiting."
A tongue-in-cheek anthem about the endless pursuit of self-optimization. Peptides, protein powder, red light therapy, subscriptions, credit cards, size 4 dreams. The humor is the point. It's a laundry list of desperation dressed up as ambition, and underneath it all is something very human: the belief that the next thing will finally be the thing.
Emotional Arc
Starts playful and self-aware, almost absurdist. Builds through the verses with escalating commitment to the bit. The breakdown is where it tips from funny to dramatic, that cinematic stomp-clap moment that earns real stakes. Lands somewhere between laughing at yourself and meaning every word.
Demo Direction
The newest demo is the direction. Less hunky-dory than the first pass. It's fun, quirky, and playful without tipping into cheesy. The stomp-clap energy in the breakdown is exactly right. Two adjustments needed from the current demo:
Choruses
Currently too stripped down. Need more acoustic guitars to fill them out. Add some pads underneath for width and warmth.
Outro
At the double turnaround ("pour me another glass of wine") there should not be a hard cutout there. It's a standard double turnaround — let it run naturally. The hard cutout comes at the very end after the full outro plays out.
Ad Libs
Definitely needs fun ad libs sprinkled throughout. These are key to the character and the humor of the song.
Sonic Palette
Groove
Stomp, clap. Fun, locked, propulsive. Just the right amount of quirky.
Breakdown
Cinematic stomp-clap moment. Dramatic without losing the wink. This is the emotional peak of the song.
Choruses
Acoustic guitars front and center. Pads for warmth. Fuller and more anthemic than the demo currently delivers.
Overall Vibe
Playful, punchy, self-aware. Theatrically fun without losing the country-rock foundation.
Album Arc Note
Thematic Thread — Greatest Showman Vibe
This song is part of a recurring cinematic thread running through the album alongside Midnight Church Aftermath and Renovate Me. All three share a dramatic, theatrical stomp-clap energy that feels almost like a musical motif across the record. Worth being intentional about how these songs are sequenced and how the breakdowns are produced so the thread feels cohesive rather than coincidental.
Music Video Concept
A literal visual laundry list of wellness obsession. Me doing all the things: red light therapy mask, vibration plate, injecting peptides, eating cottage cheese by the gallon, scooping protein powder directly into my mouth, popping a fistful of supplements, walking in a weighted vest. The tone is deadpan and committed, no winking at the camera, which makes it funnier.
Hero Visual: Me in a red light therapy mask, bobbing my head left to right while strumming guitar. This image alone could be the Spotify canvas / visualizer.
Production Path: High virality potential. Consider either allocating real budget here or exploring AI video generation to keep costs down while still delivering a visual that can travel. This one has a real shot.
